A huge fire engulfed the Ismailia Security Directorate on Monday morning, burning down a police headquarters building and injuring 38 people.
Civil Protection Forces extinguished the fire with the help of a helicopter, while unit from the Armed Forces in Ismailia intervened to control the fire and rescue the injured.
The Ministry of Health and Population announced that hospitals in the Ismailia Governorate have raised their state of readiness to receive the injured.
According to the Health Ministry, 50 fully equipped ambulances were dispatched to the site immediately, and all emergency medications and blood groups were provided in the governorate’s hospitals.
Ambulances provided emergency services to 12 injured people at the scene of the incident, while 26 people were transferred to the Ismailia Medical Complex, including 24 cases of suffocation and two cases of burns, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, said.

Seven people were discharged from hospital after their conditions improved, he added.
Minister of Interior Mahmoud Tawfiq arrived at the scene of the incident and ordered that the injured be provided the utmost level of care.
He also ordered a committee of consultants be formed to find out the causes of the fire, as well as review the structural safety of the building to restore it as soon as possible.
Forensic and research teams arrived at the burned police headquarters to begin their investigations into the incident.
