Masked gunmen shot dead a low-ranking police officer as he was leaving his house in the Al-Bashayer area of 6th October City on Thursday.
Two gunmen in a white car shot the officer with an automatic rifle, according to investigators.
The suspects had apparently been monitoring the victim’s movements for a week before committing the crime.
A security cordon was imposed at the scene of the incident and the police officer’s body was transferred to a mortuary.
Security forces set up checkpoints in the area and began a search for the gunmen, security sources said.
