International Cooperation Minister Rania al-Mashat left Cairo Sunday for the US to participate in the 77th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA).
Under the motto “Solutions through solidarity, sustainability and science”, the event is due to discuss the most pressing challenges facing people worldwide, topped by food security, energy prices and supply chain disruptions.
Mashat is scheduled to attend several events which will be held as part of the proceedings of the 77th session of the UNGA.
Mashat will participate in the UN Global Compact Summit, which will bring together high-level speakers, including UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and UN Deputy Secretary General Amina Mohamed.
The minister’s agenda also includes an event organized by the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) along with several meetings organized by the World Economic Forum on climate action.
The minister will also take part on the sidelines of the event with a development partners as well as number of senior officials from the UN and the private sector with the aim of enhancing talks which attain the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and climate action.
