Manshiyet Nasser resident injured in bulldozer accident

A bulldozer attempting to remove illegal structures in Manshiyet Nasser, an informal settlement in Cairo, has caused a building to collapse on top of 35-year-old Yasser Mohamed Abdel Aziz, fracturing his skull.

Abdel Aziz’s wife Manal Ashery told Al-Masry Al-Youm that last Thursday the bulldozer driver caused a wall to collapse on her husband while working on a project to remove illegal structures on Wahaed Street, adjacent to the Suzanne Mubarak residences.

Abdel Aziz was transferred to the el-Zahraa Hospital and placed in intensive care.

A doctor at el-Zahraa Hospital, who asked to remain anonymous, said the injured man is in a coma and has been declared in critical condition. The initial report confirmed that pieces of the structure fell on the man, the doctor said. As a result, there is water in his lungs and he suffers from multiple fractures throughout his body.

Al-Masry Al-Youm attempted to meet with Mostafa Abbada, Manshiyet Nasser local council head, to ask about the incident, but the reporter was refused access. Attempts to reach the chairman remained unsuccessful as of print time.
