Man attempting to kill US researcher remanded into custody

Judge Ahmed Abdallah, head of the Qasr al-Nil Misdemeanor Court, on Thursday remanded Mahmoud Badr for 15 days, pending investigation. Badr is accused of attempting to kill American researcher Chris Stone outside the US embassy in Garden City.

Badr’s father provided the judge with the Qasr al-Nil prosecutor reports from Kafr El Sheikh Hospital proving that his son suffers from mental disorders, and that he is not responsible for his actions. He requested that his son be admitted to a mental hospital.

Badr confessed to prosecutors that he bought a knife and stabbed the American researcher in the neck because he resents American foreign policies.
