Major development of Wadi Firan checkpoint road in St. Catherine’s City costs LE 2 billion

The Governor of South Sinai, Khaled Fouda announced that development of the Wadi Firan/Saint Catherine checkpoint road, covering a total length of 100 square kilometers, has been now completed.

Development included widening the road to 25 meters, with three lanes in each direction, at a cost exceeding two billion LE, he added.

This project aims to facilitate and shorten the distance for visitors entering Saint Catherine’s City, considering the city’s reliance on day-trip and weekend tourism.

Additionally, work was carried out to protect the road from flood hazards which had previously caused significant damage.

Fouda added that the ongoing development of the Great Manifestation Project in St. Catherine City, set to open soon, necessitated the implementation of this significant road development project.
