Local authorities in Cairo have completed maintenance work that was being done on the October 6 Bridge's Ghamra area junction, said head of Cairo Roads and Bridges Department Ashraf Helmy.
The Ghamra junction was worn out, which was a nuisance for drivers passing through the area, he added.
Maintenance work and the development of several roads and bridges is ongoing in other parts of the city, including on the Cairo Airport bridge, the Ibnel Hakam bridge, Mahkama Square, Matariya Square, Youssef Abbas road and Methaq road, Helmy told MENA.
The department is preparing for the second phase of the October 6 Bridge, which will extend until the May 15 Bridge, as well as the development of the Corniche pavements along the Nile, he said.
