Retired football player Mahmoud al-Khatib submitted his candidacy documents to run for president of Al-Ahly Club on Friday after prayers along with other candidates, with elections scheduled for November 30.
A large number of Khatib’s supporters gathered and greeted him along with the other candidates on his list.
Former Minister of Sports al-Amry Farouk will run for vice president, and former Al-Ahly board member Khalid al-Darandaly will run for the treasurer position.
Other candidates on the list include former African record holding swimmer Rania Elwany, Ibrahim al-Kafrawy, Tarek Qandil, Khaled Mortaga and others.
