Madinaty land project set to continue despite court ruling

Egypt's Housing Ministry on Tuesday confirmed that the Talaat Mostafa Real Estate Holding Company would continue with its ‘Madinaty’ luxury housing project despite a court ruling this summer that invalidated the sale of state land for the project.

According to officials at the New Urban Communities Authority, the project–the owners of which say they have already implemented the court ruling by drawing up a new sales contract–will carry on as usual.

On Tuesday, the Cairo Administrative Court ruled that the government must implement the initial ruling annulling the company's purchase contract and offer the land up for sale in a public auction.
