BEIING, Oct 18 (MENA) – Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly reiterated on Wednesday the depth and development of relations between Egypt and China that have been clearly manifested in the exchange of high-level visits between the two countries over the past period.
These visits resulted in agreeing on many cooperation projects and programs that have contributed to enhancing economic and investment relations between the two countries, the premier said during his meeting with head of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China Zhao Leji in the presence of International Cooperation Minister Rania el Mashat, Communications and Information Technology Minister Amr Talaat, Transport Minister Kamel el Wazir and a number of Chinese officials.
Madbouli expressed appreciation for China’s support of Egypt’s accession to the BRICS, saying Egypt hopes to work with China within the coming period to boost work mechanisms inside the bloc in a way that will help shore up developing nations’ role in facing global challenges.
He thanked China for its support as regards the electric train project linking Cairo, 10th of Ramadan City, and the New Administrative Capital, praising the successful experiment of the TEDA region, which succeeded in attracting investments from Chinese companies, expressing the Egyptian side’s aspiration for more Chinese investments in the future.
The Chinese official welcomed Madbouly’s participation in the third edition of the Belt and Road Forum, noting that Egypt is the first Arab and African country to establish diplomatic relations with China, and that the strategic partnership between both countries has witnessed rapid development thanks to the close and distinguished relations between the two political leaderships.
He said he agreed with Madbouly over the Egyptian side’s assessment of bilateral relations which are termed as strategic and comprehensive, underlining the importance of working for the development of these strategic relations.
He reiterated his country’s support of Egypt’s vision and program for sustainable development, which are consistent with the Belt and Road Initiative.
He called for strengthening cooperation in the parliamentary field, saying having communication between legislative bodies in the two countries is an important pillar for strengthening strategic relations as legislative councils work to provide legal guarantees to support cooperation frameworks between the two sides.
Madbouli lauded Chinese companies’ participation in carrying out a number of mega development projects in Egypt, including the business district in the New Administrative Capital.
The Prime Minister indicated that Egypt has an ambitious strategy to localize a number of advanced industries, hoping Chinese companies could extend a hand in this regard.
Madbouli touched on the state’s various efforts to create a legislative and regulatory environment for businesses in a bid to attract more investments to various sectors, pointing in this regard to the legislative amendments and decisions that have been approved lately to provide more investment facilities and incentives.
