Libya’s army has revealed that more raids will be carried out against the Islamic State in coordination with Egypt, after strikes by the latter’s air forces allegedly killed dozens of militants.
Egypt declared it had launched a successful air strike against IS in eastern Libya on Monday in retaliation for the group’s execution of 21 Egyptians as shown by a video it published on Sunday.
Libyan Army Chief of Staff spokesperson Ahmed al-Mesmary told Anadolu Agency that Khalifa Haftar, the Libyan army chief, is coordinating with Egypt’s military for a new joint air raid targeting IS strongholds in Sirte within hours.
He said Haftar had coordinated with Egypt’s Defense Minister Sedqy Sobhy before the first round of attacks.
