Lawyers’ Syndicate demands harsher penalty for police officers convicted of torturing lawyer to death

Lawyers' Syndicate Chairman Sameh Ashour said he is filing a lawsuit with the Court of Cassation to demand a harsher penalty for the police officers who were convicted of torturing lawyer Karim Hamdy to death. They were sentenced to five years in prison.

“A crime of this magnitude deserves a harsher punishment,” he said. “It was committed with premeditation.”

The Lawyers' Defense Campaign has also collected signatures for a plea that it will send to the prosecutor general for the same purpose.
