Lawyers Syndicate board sends chairman on obligatory holiday

The board of the Lawyers Syndicate decided to send Chairman Hamdi Khalifa on obligatory holiday until the end of his term or the holding of early elections.

The board also dissolved the syndicate’s executive committee on Tuesday and appointed a new one, and directed banks and all syndicate branches to cancel signatory powers of previous committee members.

Khalifa, for his part, called it an “illegal” move, while Secretary General Hussein al-Gammal labeled it a “conspiracy” to settle old accounts.
