The crisis between lawyers and judges over the new judicial authority draft law has escalated, as the judges called for an emergency general assembly on Friday to address what they consider the "continuous excesses" of the lawyers.
Former Lawyers Syndicate Chief Sameh Ashour accused Hossam al-Ghityani, president of the Supreme Judicial Council, of using a “condescending” tone in his statements, and requested him to postpone the new draft law until the new parliament is elected.
Lawyers in several cities said they would continue striking until the draft law is cancelled.
