Three Egyptians filed a lawsuit at the Administrative Court urging President Hosni Mubarak and Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif to dismiss Minister of Electricity Hassan Younis, who they accuse of negligence and causing harm to citizens by failing to solve the power problem.
The plaintiffs–a retired deputy minister, a lawyer and a physician–stated in their lawsuit that President Mubarak had given clear instructions to Younis to solve the electricity problem, as reported in the media.
They also detailed how prolonged power cuts led to losses for factories and threatened the lives of patients in hospitals.
Finally, the plaintiffs said they expect the court to pass a ruling obliging the president to exercise his constitutional authority to dismiss the minister “who has violated his oath of office to protect citizens.”
