The 55th session of the Cairo International Book Fair ended on Tuesday with nearly five million visitors – achieving the largest public turnout in its history.
The total number of visitors during fair’s 12 day run reached about 4,785,539 visitors. Tuesday, its final day, recorded about 360,320 visitors.
Minister of Culture Nevine al-Kilany expressed her happiness at the exceptional success of the CIBF.
This edition achieved several unprecedented records, she said, including the number of visitors, participating publishers and exhibitors, participating countries, the outstanding sales volume, the diversity of events, the size of initiatives and more.
Kilany thanked those in charge of organizing the exhibition and preparing for its many activities, and encouraged them to continue providing this distinguished cultural service to the public.
She also urged them to begin preparations for the next session from now and build on the monumental success of this edition.
The Chairman of the Egyptian General Book Authority, Ahmed Bahi Eddin, said that the CIBF’s latest session is something worthy of pride, positively reflecting the state’s strong belief in culture, its impact on society, and the exchange of dialogue and coexistence between peoples.
The 55th session of the Cairo International Book Fair concluded with the announcement of the Sultanate of Oman as the guest of the next session.
It was held at the Egypt International Exhibition Center, Fifth Settlement, and witnessed the participation of 1,200 Egyptian, Arab and foreign publishers alongside more than 5,000 exhibitors from 70 countries. The event witnessed 550 cultural events and 120 artistic events, which included meetings with creators, writers, thinkers and artists.
