Egyptian international Mohamed Salah sparked controversy across social media on Sunday evening, following his statements after the Liverpool FC and Manchester City match in the English Premier League 2024-25 season.
Salah told Sky Sports: “Honestly that’s what was in my head [it possibly being his last home match v Man City].
“Probably until now this is the last City game I will play for Liverpool so I was just going to enjoy it. The atmosphere was incredible so I will enjoy every second here. Hopefully we just win the league and will see what will happen.”
Salah added that he is still loving playing at Anfield for Liverpool: “It’s very special. I don’t take it for granted. I’m enjoying every minute here. It feels like home. It’s always special feeling always scoring at Anfield and winning games.”
Salah led Liverpool to a 2-0 victory over Manchester City on Sunday evening, in the English Premier League.
Anfield Stadium, home to Salah’s teammates, hosted Liverpool’s match against Manchester City in the thirteenth round of the English Premier League matches on Sunday.
Salah provided a decisive pass to Dutchman Cody Gakpo to score the first goal, then the Egyptian Pharaoh returned in the 78th minute to add the second goal from the penalty spot.
With this goal, Salah raised his tally in the English Premier League 2024 top scorers table to eleven goals.
