Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov commented on US media allegations that Egypt secretly planned to send up to 40,000 missiles to Russia.
Peskov denied the claims, RT (Russia Today) reported on Tuesday, adding that these allegations are a typical example of misinformation.
The Washington Post reported that Sisi recently ordered officials to produce up to 40,000 missiles to be secretly shipped to Russia, according to an alleged leaked US intelligence document.
Part of that top-secret document, dated February 17, summarized alleged talks between Sisi and senior Egyptian military officials to provide Russia with artillery shells and gunpowder.
An official Egyptian source has also responded to the Washington Post’s claims. According to al-Qahera News channel, the source claimed that this report is baseless informational tampering.
The source assured that Egypt follows a balanced policy with all international parties, stressing that the determinants of this policy are peace, stability and development.
They also denied that Sisi had instructed officials to keep production and shipping secret to avoid problems with the West.
