Kid friendly snack of the week: Lamb meatballs for Eid al-Adha

These little meatballs may be fried, but if you make sure the lamb is lean, a 100g serving will provide at least 20percent of  your child's daily intake of iron. Get your kids to wash their hands well and they can even get involved in the meat ball rolling process.

Ingredients
1 tbsp sunflower oil
1 onion, peeled and chopped
500g lean lamb mince
1 egg
1 cup soft breadcrumbs
1 tsp mixed herbs (pinch of cinnamon, pinch of mint, parsley)

Directions

  1. Mix ingredients together in a small bowl to combine fully.
  2. At this point, you or you and our children should dive, hands first, into the bowl of mince mixture and make little meat balls.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan and fry on medium heat for 15 minutes (approximately) – make sure meatballs are no longer pink inside.
  4. Pop into your child's lunch box with a little jar of dipping sauce – tomato sauce, yoghurt with mint and garlic or mashed avocado mixed with sour cream are all good options!
