A 21-year-old man died in a Cairo hospital Thursday after sustaining severe burns over the weekend amid fatal sectarian clashes in the Delta town of Khosous.
Saber Helal Saber is the seventh victim of the fighting that broke out Friday — reportedly in response to graffiti painted on an Islamic building — and have shaken the country.
Prosecutors requested an autopsy for the victim, who died in Matareya Hospital, to determine the cause of death. Reports have suggested his burns were caused by Molotov cocktails thrown at him on Saturday.
His family said he was only passing by and was not involved in the fighting.
Prosecutors also summoned the families of Coptic victims to question them, and expedited forensic reports into the death of the sixth victim, Dawood Kamel, whose body was found with stab wounds.
Four Christians and one Muslim had been killed during the initial fighting in the Qalyubiya Governorate town.
An attack on the funeral for the Christian victims in Cairo on Sunday also left two people dead.
