Dhahi Khalfan, Dubai police vice-chief, has vowed the international organization of Muslim Brotherhood will receive a new blow from the Gulf.
On Twitter, Khalfan described the Brotherhood on Tuesday as a group raised on ‘thuggery.’ “The international organization elements are the most dangerous threat to stability and security of all Arab countries without exception,” he said.
After Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashed al-Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, decided on Saturday to appoint a new leader for the Emirati police force, Khalfan addressed the Brotherhood saying, “I’m at the superior leadership of police and public security. There’s no escaping.”
The Dubai government and police tweeted saying that al-Maktoum designated Major General Khamis Mattar al-Mazeina as Dubai police chief, succeeding Khalfan.
Khalfan has been a vocal critic of the Muslim Brotherhood. The Gulf kingdom has imprisoned tens of Brotherhood members and is prosecuting others for allegedly belonging to the group.
