Dokki Misdemeanor Court has postponed the trial session of prominent lawyer Khalid Ali, founder of the Eish w Horriyya (translation: Bread and Freedom) party, until September 18.
The court case has previously been adjourned till July 24.
The court had demanded an expert from the Radio & Television Union submit a report on video footage evidence which shows Ali making inappropriate hand gestures that “violate public morals” during a protest earlier this year.
However, the TV expert was absent from the previous trial session and accordingly fined LE400; the
summoning order for them was renewed.
During the public prosecution’s investigations, Ali denied committing any lewd acts, claiming that the videos submitted to the prosecution were photoshopped.
Ali contested that the case against him was a clear response to a lawsuit he had previously filed to invalidate the maritime demarcation deal with Saudi Arabia.
