The Administrative Court has set 1 March as the date for verdict regarding the demands for canceling the High Elections Commision's (HEC) decision to exclude National Democratic Party (NDP) candidates from the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Steel tycoon Ahmed Ezz, former NDP member, who was recently banned from running in the elections, was among those who challenged the HEC decision.
In related news, the Kefaya Movement has filed five formal challenges against President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and head of the HEC at the Administrative Court, which will review the issue on Thursday.
The challenges are aimed at forcing the HEC and the president to take the necessary measures to ensure that members of the disbanded National Democratic Party are excluded from running in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Kefaya, also known as the Egyptian Movement for Change, founded in 2004, was one of the most prominent activist groups which opposed the ousted president Hosni Mubarak.
