An Armed Forces conscript was killed when a judge from the economic court shot him in a building in Nasr City on Wednesday.
Investigations conducted by police indicated that the victim entered the building upon hearing a dispute. The judge had accused a women of theft when he saw her in the building – this woman was the conscript's fiancee. He intervened to save his fiancee when the defendant shot him dead.
Residents notified Nasr City police station about the murder. A police report was filed and submitted to the prosecution for investigation.
The conscript's fiancee, Poussy, revealed details about the murder of the victim, who was a German University graduate, on a talk show aired on privately-owned Dream 2 TV channel.
Poussy said her fiance had accompanied her to one of her mother’s friends in Nasr City. As she was leaving the building, the judge came up to her and asked: “What were you doing upstairs and who did you visit?”
She said she did not want to answer as he was speaking inappropriately. She answered: “It’s none of your business”. The judge then called the doorman and asked him the same question agitatedly.
She called her fiance who was in the car a few meters away from the building as they were getting ready to leave. “When Mo’men, my fiance, came he told him ‘please talk to me’ as the judge was speaking inpolitely. When Mo'men tried to take me to the car so he could talk to the judge alone, the latter tried to grab me saying she is a thief and that she went upstairs to steal.”
“Mo’men told me to call the people I visited. When I grabbed my phone, the judge hit Mo’men and he fell on the ground,” she added.
“Mo’men stood up and hit the judge back, making him unsteady on his feet,” she said. The issue turned to a argument and “suddenly the judge got out his gun and shot Mo'men in the chest,” Poussy said.
“Mo’men died in front of me after he uttered the shahada. I saw the judge putting his hand on his head and saying: ‘What did I do?’” she said. “He disappeared for a while and then drove up in his car; he wanted me and my fiance to get in with him alone. I refused and asked other people to come with us as I was scared to go with a killer."
She added that three men went with them and on the way they found the ambulance. “Once Mo’men was transferred to the ambulance. We could not find the judge. He escaped in a second.”
“It was clear that Mo’men died before we got into the judge’s car. Blood was coming out of his nose and his body temperature was dropping,” she said, adding: “Of course the judge did not want to drive us to the ambulance. He wanted to kill me or blackmail me.”
The TV presenter Wael al-Ibrashy then said the suspect was arrested without waiting for his immunity to be lifted by the Supreme Judiciary Council.
