Journalists mobilize to adopt international protection treaty

The International Initiative for the Protection of Journalists in Egypt on Wednesday called for a general mobilization to adopt an international treaty for the protection of journalists.

The journalists demand that field correspondents be appointed immediately in coordination with the Journalists Syndicate.
 
Initiative Chairperson Hedayat Abdel Naby aid a training program has been devised to protect field correspondents during clashes. “Targeting of journalists began with the 25 January revolution and was increased under the Brotherhood rule and in recent months,” she said.
 
Ten reporters have been killed while covering protesters-police violence since Morsy's ouster.
 
The International Convention for the Protection of Journalists is being prepared in Geneva.
