Jordan rationing electricity after Egypt blast

Amman—Jordan says it is rationing its use of electricity after the explosion of a gas pipeline from Egypt.

On Wednesday, gunmen blew up a pipeline carrying natural gas from the Sinai Peninsula to Israel and Jordan for the second time in less than two months.

Egypt supplies 80 percent of Jordan's natural gas.

The official Petra news agency says Jordan has asked Saudi Arabia and other countries to help boost its heavy fuel and diesel reserves to generate electricity.

An emergency cabinet session on Thursday agreed to limit power use at government facilities and highways.
