Egypt’s embassy in Jordan has deported eight Egyptians arrested by Jordanian authorities while attempting to illegally cross into Syria.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Egyptian Ambassador to Jordan Amr Abul Ata said the Egyptian Embassy in Jordan returned the Egyptians via the ports of Aqaba and Nuweiba.
Despite warnings by the Egyptian Embassy, several Egyptians have attempted to sneak into Syria from Jordan, in hopes of transiting through Turkey and eventually arriving in Europe, said Ata, which he noted puts their lives in danger.
