The representative of the Italian Consulate in Upper Egypt, Francis Amin, praised the medical team at Luxor Governorate’s Esna quarantine hospital for their heroic efforts to save the lives of ten Italian tourists infected with coronavirus, all of whom were over 70 years old.
Esna has recorded 46 cases of full recovery from the virus, out of a total 78 patients quarantined in the hospital.
Amin said that the medical team proved that Egypt was a refuge for all, regardless of nationality.
He added that one Italian tourist, M.B., 81, who was recently discharged from the hospital among 13 other fully-recovered cases, expressed his love for Egypt and described the attention and care he received from the medical team as equal to the care given to Egyptians.
The team of doctors and nurses celebrated discharging the third batch of fully-recovered cases from the hospital, taking commemorative photos with the now-healthy patients.
Social media users also expressed their admiration for the team after the news and photos went viral.
Egypt has confirmed 495 cases of coronavirus and 24 deaths, while a total of 102 formerly diagnosed cases have fully recovered and been discharged from quarantine hospitals.
