The Egyptian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Badr Abdel Aaty said Tuesday that Israel’s announcement to starting the construction of 800 settlement units on the West Bank contradicted the US endeavors to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Abdel Aaty warned of the seriousness of the Israeli policy which aims to change the status quo and impose new facts on ground. Abdel Aaty pointed out that expanding settlements would destroy the two-state solution.
The spokesperson called on the international community to intervene urgently to put Israel in line with its responsibilities, international resolutions and the principles of the peace process.
“Egypt and all international community parties see the settlements as a clear violation to the rules of international law,” he added.
