Israeli radio: Levanon to return to Cairo after Jewish holidays

Israeli Ambassador to Egypt Yitzhak Levanon is expected to return to Cairo after the Jewish holidays, Israeli radio reported Monday.

Levanon left Cairo after Egyptian protesters broke into the embassy on 10 September, in response to an Israeli border raid in Sinai that left six Egyptian officers dead.

“Four Israelis from the embassy staff, including diplomats and security personnel, left Cairo after the attacks on the embassy. They arrived back in Cairo to resume their work," Israeli radio quoted Levanon as saying.

The radio also quoted anonymous sources from Cairo International Airport who said the four Israeli diplomats were the ambassador, his adviser, his deputy, and the embassy security chief.

However, the sources didn't say whether the four went to the embassy or another location.
