Director of Policy and Political Military Affairs at the Israel Ministry of Defense, Amos Gilad, is in Cairo on Sunday for a brief visit.
Gilad will hold talks with several Egyptian officials about latest development in the region in light of the Palestinian reconciliation, signed by Fatah and Hamas two weeks ago in Cairo.
The talks will also discuss the calls for marches to Egypt's eastern borders on the occasion of the Nakba. Calls for a third Palestinian intifada have been posted on Facebook, and activists called for marches to start on Sunday to reach the Rafah border crossing.
Gilad will also discuss issue of the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, detained in Gaza. This issue will be discussed for the first time in Egypt since the 25 January revolution.
Closed over the weekend (Friday and Saturday), the Rafah border crossing was opened on Sunday for Palestinians going both ways.
