Israeli army officially confirms the killing of Hezbollah leader Fuad Shukr

The Israeli military has officially confirmed the assassination of Hezbollah leader Fuad Shukr, known as “Hajj Mohsen,” in an attack targeting the Lebanese capital Beirut.

Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari stated early Wednesday morning that Shukr was Hezbollah’s top military commander and served as an aide to its secretary-general, Hassan Nasrallah.

A precise liquidation operation was carried out by the IDF, warplanes raided the Beirut area based on intelligence information received from the Military Intelligence Service and eliminated the so-called Sayyed Mohsen, Fouad Shukr, the most prominent leader in the terrorist Hezbollah and its strategic affairs official,” he explained.

He added that “The strategic system led by Mohsen (Fouad Shukr) is responsible for most of the advanced combat means available to Hezbollah, especially precision missiles, cruise missiles, sea cruise missiles and long-range rockets, in addition to developing and operating Hezbollah’s drones.”

He was responsible for the retaliation against Israel since October 8, Hagari added.

Hezbollah did not issue any comment, while Iranian media reported the failure of the Israeli operation.

A rapid escalation

A rocket attack on the Israeli-occupied Syrian Golan Heights on Saturday killed 12 people, aged between 10-20, while 34 others were injured with six in critical condition.

The Israeli police and army confirmed that rockets hit several sites in the Golan Heights, and one of them hit the town of Majdal Shams, which borders Lebanon and Jordan.

Though the Israeli government accused Hezbollah of launching the attack, the latter denies it.
