Israel seizes final ship of 42-vessel Gaza aid flotilla, hundreds of activists detained

The Global Resilience Flotilla for Breaking the Siege on the Gaza Strip announced that the Israeli navy intercepted the last remaining ship of the Gaza aid convoy on Friday, according to Al Jazeera.

The Resilience Flotilla indicated that the Israeli Navy has now intercepted all 42 boats that comprised the convoy.

Earlier, the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation stated that the Navy had just announced control over the ship, Marinette, the last vessel of the Resilience Flotilla—which aimed to break the siege on the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Israeli authorities have decided to begin the deportation of activists from the Resilience Flotilla who sign deportation orders.

Hebrew media also reported that, following their interrogation, police transferred 473 activists from the Global Flotilla to the Ketziot Prison in the Negev.

The Resilience Flotilla had announced via social media Thursday evening that the Marinette continued its voyage toward the Gaza Strip, despite all other ships in the convoy having already been intercepted.

The Marinette, carrying six solidarity activists from different countries, reached a distance of approximately 100 kilometers from Gaza, surpassing the area where the first ships of the flotilla were intercepted by about 20 miles.

In response, the Israeli Foreign Ministry warned yesterday that should the ship “approach, its attempt to enter an active combat zone and break the blockade will also be repelled.”
