The Israeli Channel 12 reported on Monday there is consensus between the War Cabinet and Israel’s security forces to withdraw from Rafah and grant priority to the prisoner exchange deal.
The channel cited the Chief of Staff of the occupation army as telling the families of the prisoners that while dismantling Hamas remains an important goal, the priority now is “restoring their children.”
The Israeli occupation army on Sunday massacred displaced Palestinians in defiance to the decision of the International Court of Justice.
Local Palestinian sources announced that at least 45 people were killed, and others were injured, after Israeli raids targeted the tents of displaced people near the warehouses of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) northwest of Rafah.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported that its crews transported a large number of dead and injured following the attack.
The Civil Defense in Gaza confirmed the arrival of 50 dead and wounded, as a result of the Israeli bombing of the displaced persons’ camp northwest of Rafah.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Observatory said: “Israel committed a massacre against displaced Palestinians, continuing to reject and ignore the decision of ICJ.”
The Gaza Civil Defense said in a statement that “the occupation army has targeted areas in Rafah that it previously classified and considered safe areas for the displaced.”
“The occupation targets everyone and does not differentiate between military zones or areas that it says are safe.”
The Gaza Civil Defense statement continued, “There were many cases of amputations, severe burns, and victims form women and children as a result of the camp massacre, and what happened in northwest Rafah is a full-fledged massacre.”
