The number of victims of Israel’s assault on the Gaza Strip since the war broke out on October 7, 2023 has exceeded 27,000 people.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced on Thursday that the casualties from Israel’s aggression had risen to 27,019, while the number of wounded had risen to 66,139 people.
The Ministry of Health added that Israeli occupation forces committed 15 massacres, claiming the lives of 118 people with 190 wounded in the last 24 hours.
Up to 90 percent of Palestinians now displaced
“Almost 90 percent of Palestinians in Gaza have been forcibly displaced due to Israel’s war on Hamas, according to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA),” a CNN report from early January stated.
“Families search for safety where there is none, as famine looms. Critical for humanitarian #ceasefire to provide urgent aid & end this forced, continuous displacement,” the UNRWA wrote at the time on X (formerly Twitter.)
Egypt stands by Palestine
The Chairman of the Defense and National Security Committee in the Egyptian House of Representatives, Ahmed al-Awady, affirmed Egypt’s support for any decisions and measures taken by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in defense of Palestine, and spoke of Egypt’s increasingly strained relations with Israel.
In a special statement to RT in late January, Awady stressed that the Egyptian government, leadership and people are against any attempts to undermine Egyptian and Arab national security.
He said that Egypt continues its historical humanitarian role to support the rights of Palestinians.
Awady stressed Egypt’s constant emphasis that a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution is the only way to achieve security and sustainable peace for Palestine.
