Israeli authorities handed the bodies of four of the perpetrators of the attack on a checkpoint in Rafah that left at least 16 Egyptian security forces dead, an Egyptian security source said. The bodies arrived at Arish public hospital amid tight security.
The source said that three of the bodies were incinerated, and that a fourth had a belt with Palestine written on it.
The attackers, who seized an armored vehicle of the Egyptian army, were killed by Israeli forces after they breached the Israeli border, he said, adding that the bodies were not identified.
The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth also reported that the Israeli army has transferred the bodies of the attackers.
