Israel evacuates embassies in Egypt, Morocco due to protests

Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the Israeli Foreign Ministry evacuated the staff of its embassies in Morocco and Egypt “due to angry demonstrations over what is happening in Gaza.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry has not commented on the report yet.

Egypt on Wednesday witnessed sit-ins, marches, and demonstrations in solidarity with the Palestinians and in protest of the bombing of the Baptist Hospital in the Gaza Strip.

The protesters carried banners that read: “Teach your children that Jerusalem is Arab and that the Zionist entity is an occupier” and “Egypt rejects slavery, freedom, and martyrdom, Gaza steadfastness.”

A number of lawyers put the flags of Egypt and Palestine on their shoulders and chanted slogans, such as “Gaza, Gaza, land of pride.”

Some denounced the killing of children and civilians in Israeli occupation airstrikes, while others questioned with slogans: “where is the Arab army?”
