Islamists practice karate at Nasr City rally

Islamists particpating in Friday protests in support of President Mohamed Morsy have been filmed performed self-defence martial arts exercises in the garden in front of Nasr City's Rabaa al-Adaweya Mosque.

Some put on shields and headpieces while performing exercises that showed how to respond to physical assaults.

They performed karate, kung fu and bodybuilding exercises while chanting: "Power, determination, faith."

Activists circulated images of the men exercising in circles on social networking websites. Some footage also showed dozens of marchers carrying sticks.

Around 30 Islamist groups staged mass demonstrations Friday under the slogan "No to violence."

The protest started after Friday prayers with pro-Morsy chants and demands to apply Islamic Sharia in Egypt.
