Islamic State’s Baghdadi might have been killed

Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was wounded in airstrikes in Mosul on Friday night and his deputy, Musallam al-Turkmani, was killed, Iraq's minister of defense, said on Facebook  late Monday night.

Media reports quoting radical Islamist websites go as far as saying that al- Baghdadi was actually killed and not only wounded.

Al Masry Al Youm Arabic news website quoted an alleged ISIS twitter account saying on Tuesday morning that Baghdadi was killed in an American air strike. "we will publish th details of The Caliphate martyrdom and the allegiance of the new Caliphate later; yes it(the Islamic State) is lasting and expanding" the twitter account affiliated to radical Islamist  Etisam media organization added late Monday.

However, Iraq's Interior Ministry said the Iraqi air force wounded al-Baghdadi in an air strike Saturday, not in Mosul, but in the Iraqi town of al-Qaim according to al-arabiya TV.

It is not yet clear where or if Baghdadi actually died or how this will affect ISIS or its allies in the region.

US-led coalition is yet to confirm whether Islamic State commander, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was killed or wounded.

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi,  announced himself as  the caliph of Muslims in Syria and Iraq as well as other  Islamic  countries.

Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis, which claimed responsibility for several bloody attacks against Egyptian army and police forces in Sinai since July 2013, said in a recorded video message early Monday it officially pledges allegiance to ISIS.

“Obeying Allah and his Messenger’s directives to maintain unity, we pledge allegiance to Caliph Ibrahim bin Awwad bin Ibrahim al-Qurashy al-Husseiny”, the statement said, referring toISIS leader Abu Bakar al-Baghdady.

The statement urged Muslims around the globe to back Baghdady, announcing that an “Islamic Caliphate has been declared in Iraq and the Levant, and Muslims have chosen their own Caliph”.
