Salafi spokesman Abdel Moneim al-Shahat says he expects 10 to 15 million people to take part in this Friday’s demonstration in support of the ruling military council.
The demonstration will be staged under the slogan “Identity and Stability", and is expected to take place in Cairo and other governorates.
He said the preacher chosen to deliver the Friday prayer speech would be a surprise to all.
Jama'a al-Islamiya spokesman Tarek al-Zomor, meanwhile, said his group would secure the demonstration and make sure it passes off in a “presentable” manner.
Various secular movements have announced their participation in the demonstration, which was called by Islamic groups.
