Irrigation Minister Hisham Qandil on Tuesday canceled the quota for appointing relatives of ministry staff, a norm that was legally practiced in all government institutions under former President Hosni Mubarak.
“All Egyptians are equal after the revolution,” he said following his decision.
The minister set new criteria for appointments based on qualifications and transparency.
“Appointments must be carried out by a collective decision of specialized committees,” he said.
