Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Hani Sweilam lauded the current level of cooperation between Egypt and Sweden in the water resources sphere.
The minister also hailed the support provided by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) to Egypt and other African countries in the water domain.
The minister’s remarks were made during his meeting with the head of the water department at Sida, on the sidelines of his participation in the World Water Week in Sweden.
During the meeting, Sweilam affirmed Egypt’s keenness on promoting cooperation with Sida along with Swedish companies through providing the necessary technical and technological support to Egypt in the fields of wastewater treatment and reuse and monitoring and improving water quality.
Also, he urged the Swedish side to provide grants and technical assistance in the water sector to African countries to help them confront the water and food challenges they face and fulfill their sustainable development goals, in addition to supporting the continent’s green policy.
