The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced on Tuesday that three professional Irish divers who had been swept away by a current in Marsa Alam in the Red Sea have been found alive.
The three professional divers were swept before they finished diving in the area of the Brothers Islands.
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities confirmed that these divers were found safe thanks to the cooperation of all concerned state agencies, including the search and rescue center of the Ministry of Defense, the Egyptian Naval Forces, and several diving and marine activities centers in Hurghada.
The ministry explained that while these divers were making a safety stop at a depth of five meters from the sea surface and ascending to their yacht, the current swept them away to a distance of about 15 nautical miles from the island and the yacht that was carrying them with the rest of the accompanying tourist group.
The divers were then taken to Safaga and then to Hurghada, where the ministry accommodated them in a five-star hotel and provided them with their basic personal belongings until their yacht arrived and they could continue their journey with the rest of the tourist group.
