Iran’s Defense Ministry confirmed on Saturday that its strategic munitions had been secured previously, emphasizing its capability to continue the confrontation to the furthest extent.
Regarding America’s statements that it would escort ships through the Strait of Hormuz, the ministry said: “Any hostile vessels that enter the strait will end up at the bottom of this waterway.”
US Energy Secretary Chris Wright said that the US Navy would begin escorting ships through the Strait of Hormuz as soon as military forces in the region could shift their focus away from Iranian retaliatory attacks on neighboring countries.
He said the naval escort would begin “as soon as possible,” adding, “Right now, the focus of all US military assets—and God bless the men and women of the US military—is on deterring Iran’s ability to harm its neighbors and Americans in the region. So, we must first reduce its ability to cause trouble, and once it makes sense to do that, we will send ships through the Strait and get the energy flowing again.”
Immediately after the administration of US President Donald Trump and Israel launched an attack against Iran last Saturday, the Islamic Republic quickly responded by targeting large areas of Israel, as well as striking Washington’s interests in the region.
