iPhone 17 prices in Egypt set to be 50% higher than Apple’s official prices

Prices for the iPhone 17 in Egypt is slated to be over 50 percent higher – after taxes and customs – than the official price Apple announced at its annual conference on September 9, Asharq Bloomberg reported.

According to the official dealer’s price list in Egypt, the price of the lower-end iPhone 17 is LE 62,500 ($1,300), compared to Apple’s announced price of $800 – a difference of more than 60 percent.

Imported phones in Egypt are subject to a 10 percent customs tax and a 14 percent value-added tax.

iPhone 17 prices in Saudi Arabia meanwhile are 25 percent to 27 percent higher than the company’s official price, while in the UAE, the price is approximately 16 percent higher.

The value-added tax on phones in the UAE is five percent, along with a similar customs tax, while the sales tax in Saudi Arabia is 15 percent, in addition to the customs tax, which ranges between five percent and 15 percent.
