Investment minister’s chief of staff apprehended over bribery charges

East Cairo Prosecution remanded Investment Minister Ashraf Salman's chief of staff into custody for four days pending investigations over charges of receiving a US$10,000 bribe from a major Cairo mall owner in return for special land allocations.
 
On Sunday, agents from the Administrative Control Authority arrested Investment Minister Ashraf Salman's chief of staff at his office over charges of financial corruption, sources told Al-Masry Al-Youm.
 
Officers met with the suspect briefly before accusing him of receiving bribes from an investor who deals with the ministry. 
 
Agents searched his office and seized its possessions, according to the sources who asked not to be named.
 
They added that the arrest came after a lengthy investigation.
