Investigations begin into Tuesday’s Ain Shams events, which left one dead

Ain Shams prosecutors are investigating events which took place Tuesday evening, during a pro-Muslim Brotherhood march, in front of the Mar Girgis Church, before security forces intervened to disperse it.

The clashes resulted in the death of one of the neighborhood's residents, while two protesters were arrested.

Police said that some Brotherhood supporters participating the march allegedly attempted to attack the church, which is located in Ahmed Essmat street in Ain Shams, but police and locals in the area prevented them.

Clashes then erupted between the two sides, while gunfire was heard from an unknown source, before police dispersed the demonstration, and secured the situation in front of the church.
