Assistant Interior Minister for Special Operations Medhat al-Minshawi said that the security agencies will avenge the martyrs that were killed on Tuesday.
“We will continue to pursue the terrorists,” he added.
Minshawi also said the attack came in response to the killing of Abu Shita, the most wanted suspect in the kidnapping of soldiers under deposed president Mohamed Morsy.
“Our men are determined to restore security with their lives,” he said. "All bodies were identified and will be sent to their hometowns for a military funeral."
The Interior Ministry had announced that an officer and 10 conscripts were killed in northern Sinai on Tuesday following the explosion of a landmine on the Sheikh Zuweid-Rafah road while they were driving an armored vehicle.
