Interior Ministry says April 6 protesters dispersed during Khaled Saeed trial

The Interior Ministry said Monday it dispersed a protest by 150 members of the April 6 Youth Movement outside the Alexandria Criminal Court during the retrial of two police agents accused of murdering a young man back in 2010.

Consequently, the trial’s session was postponed until 4 December.

The ministry’s statement said demonstrators blocked the road outside the court which held the fifth retrial session for police agents Mahmoud Salah and Awad Suleiman who are being retried for the murder of Khaled Saeed in 2010, an incident which was the driving force behind the 2011 revolution which toppled Hosni Mubarak’s regime.

The statement said protesters “blocked the road, insulted security forces and did not respond to calls for dispersing,” adding that their actions prompted the forces to deal with them “in line with the law,” using water cannons and tear gas.
