Parliament’s Defense, National Security and Mobilization Committee has asked the Presidential Elections Commission to provide the candidates with a copy of voter lists, after rumors that 900,000 police recruits, who are by law banned from voting, had voted for Ahmed Shafiq.
Assistant Interior Minister for Legal Affairs Ali Abdel Mawla denied the allegation before the committee on Tuesday, saying that there are no more than 100,000 recruits in the ministry.
Abdel Mawla warned of such conspiracies that “irritate” the people.
